In the summer of 2007, 4 guys in the small municipality of Vörå in Finland have had enough! The same monotonous music was playing over and over again...

”What happened to rock? The real rock music that started it all, Rockabilly”

In the hood it felt like somebody had parked the upright bass and thrown away the keys. A similar bass was purchased in a hurry by Daniel (who had never even touched one before doing so...) and so it began. Rehearsal began in a garage and later moved on to a local club house. Old tunes and some own material was laid down by 13 year old Jonas on guitar and his father Kenneth on drums. Whichever guy who stood in front of the mic (that hung from it's own cable from the ceiling), became the vocalist. The motto was simple: If no one else is gonna do it, we're gonna do it ourselves!

Said and done, Danny & The Sirens was formed the same summer. The demand was out there and the first gig took place at Vörå UF already on New Years' Eve where we played 6 songs just to try our wings. Both we and the audience were blown away and now things began to happen.

Next gig in April the following year was held at the same venue where the audience couldn't get enough. That same night we recorded a live demo and a video. A local newspaper had heard about us and wrote an article about the band.

In spring 2008 we decided to change the band's name to Danny T & The Sirens to incorporate Thomas who joined us late 2007.

The following years the band did several gigs in the Pohjanmaa region of Finland both on private parties and festivals. Wearing out people's dancing shoes with rock'n'roll sure was fun! We also wrote more of our own material and the idea of recording an album grew stronger.

So in 2010 we took some time off from gigs in order to hit the studio where we recorded our debut album "Ready, Set, GO!". To find the sound that we looked for at that time, the record was carefully produced by ourselves with little outside help. The record was released in 2011. With the record in our pockets the band hit the road and did gigs on several places in Finland and on the Åland Islands. Car meetings, weddings, private parties and other events passed by.

In January 2012 Thomas decided to leave the band due to other projects. A new ”Mr T”, Tobias Hanner, was assigned and the band continued in the same direction; Forward!

When talking about the band's name one may notice that it's a pun on the members real names in true Rockabilly spirit. Upright bass player Daniel, guitarist Tobias and father and son Sirén on drums and guitar of course becomes Danny T & The Sirens.   Everybody in the band does vocals.

During 2014 between gigs, we released a medley-single with a tribute to the late great Eddie Cochran. New material was also in the making and another record was planned.

The EP ”Hot Rod Summer Nights” was born and the band upshifted another gear within their own sound. The EP contained a cover of Black Keys' Lonely Boy along with the own material. Now the band also found their way out on Spotify and iTunes.

”Everybody in the band have different influences from several different genres of music and eras. Feedback is greatly appreciated and considered but when the lines need to be written and the riffs have to be laid down, we always do our own thing.”

On the other hand, if we need to mention a few Rockabilly influences it would probably be Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley and Stray Cats.

T
he band's first music video is a cover of Bryan Adams' ”You Belong To Me”. The video was uploaded on Youtube in 2016 and within 15 minutes somebody had told the man himself about it. His message back was short and straight:

”Well done boys!”

Nowadays the band's summers are filled with gigs from Hankoo in the south to Rovaniemi in the north of Finland. We have opened for bands such as John Lindberg Trio and Top Cats and new collaborations are in progress.

Also in progress is brand new Danny T & The Sirens material. The single Caroline will be released in 2019 representing the band's new sound. I can Rock'N'Roll with that!
